Portfolio : The Aftermath

Posted by Jbu Guatemalan

Portfolio is finally coming to a close ! Seems like the other day I was cocky enough to think that I was going to be able to breeze through it because of all the work I did for it last semester and during Christmas break : boy was I wrong...

I have missed way too many classes , lost countless hours of sleep, and have probably had enough energy drinks to keep a whole football team wired.

Case in point: portfolio has taken a toll on me ; on everyone that is a senior in the art department really . I knew that things had been taken to another level when I went 48hr hours with only 5 of sleep under my belt. The point in which your body physically stops working for you is a new standard of " I'm too tired".

I don't want to linger on griping on what it has taken from me but rather focus on what it has shown and taught me. Primarily , it has shown me that all of that work you did for the last 4-5yrs actually matters ... A lot. The work you put in ( or didn't ) freshman and sophomore year finally comes full circle. It's both incredible scary and rewarding to be able to stand in front people and say " I gave 4 hrs to college and this is what I got".

Regardless , you need to stand by your work and hold your head up high because the thing about being an art student is that what you design , draw, photograph over time becomes a piece of who you are or even who you were for that matter. They tell you that you need to separate yourself from your work a( meaning who you are and what you create) but in hindsight i don't see how you can do that and still have work that you can be proud of or excited about .

So there ya go, these are the after-thoughts , reflections of a kid that has had no sleep and way to much caffeine.

The show is tomorrow . I'm done. I'm out!

Visualizing

Posted by Jbu Guatemalan
I'm about to start on a pretty big project again. Here is my concept . The image is not mine, but i have put the type to it . this is something that i have been wanting to do for a while , but just haven't had time for it, but now since it's a project for a class, I can justify using time for haha.
